What’s the difference between F1, F1B, and Multigen Cavapoos?
I often see breeders advertising F1, F1B, or Multigen Cavapoos, but I’m still not sure what those generations really mean. Do they affect shedding, coat texture, or temperament in a noticeable way?

Hi Emma! That’s a great question — and something every Cavapoo owner should know before bringing a puppy home. These labels describe how many generations separate a Cavapoo from its purebred Cavalier and Poodle ancestors. F1 Cavapoos are a 50/50 mix of both parents and tend to have that classic, fluffy “teddy bear” look. Their coats are low-shedding but may still trigger mild allergies. F1B Cavapoos are an F1 bred back to a Poodle, so they’re about 75% Poodle — curlier, softer, and more allergy-friendly. They need frequent grooming but are perfect for people sensitive to dander. You can see side-by-side photos and coat textures in our Cavapoo generations guide. F2 Cavapoos come from two Cavapoo parents, often showing greater variety in coat and temperament. Multigen Cavapoos are the result of several carefully planned generations, bred for consistency in looks, health, and behavior. A responsible breeder will always explain which generation fits your lifestyle best — whether you want low maintenance or an ultra-hypoallergenic coat. Each has its charm, so the “best” one is the one that matches your family’s routine and time for grooming.
